2018 AUSA Global Force Symposium and Exposition

Showcasing Virtual Reality for Mission Readiness and Readying Veterans for Civilian Employment: The AUSA Global Force Symposium and Exposition

On March 28, the Army Undersecretary will introduce the Future Command initiative at the unclassified Global Force Symposium and Exposition here in Huntsville. The Army has alluded about this initiative to get technology into the hands of soldiers faster. Consider this example of the issue: Heat-detecting night vision goggles have been production-ready since 2015. In that year, prototypes in Afghanistan allowed soldiers on night patrol to fire at the enemy rather than just a bush. We know patrols are much safer with the goggles than without, yet still the goggles have not been mass produced.

The theme for this year’s symposium, which takes place from March 26-28 at the Von Braun Center, is “Modernizing and Equipping America’s Army for Today and Tomorrow.” While much of the national focus will be on the Futures Command, there is an attendant career fair hosted by many top employers of veterans called Warriors to the Workforce. The private sector has an important role both in developing the most useful and innovative field technology and also in creating opportunities for veterans in the defense contracting world, where many of them will be qualified and comfortable contributing to national defense in a new way.

INTUITIVE will exhibit during the symposium (Booth #115) and operate a booth during the career fair. We see ourselves as key partners in expediting technology that saves lives. Our mission statement for the conference is Prepare for Tomorrow. Deliver Today. A recent addition to our product portfolio is Immersive Virtualization Solutions (IVS). Our team develops Immersive Virtual (IV) content in the areas of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), and Gesture/Motion Control (GMC). During the exposition, we will be showcasing our core capabilities using our virtual reality tools. Our custom virtual reality training tools expedite mission readiness, preparedness, and rapid fielding of weapon systems.

Equally important, we will be talking with transitioning military staff and spouses about our world, the nexus between soldiers and civilians in the workforce, at Warriors to Workforce—this event is March 27, 2018, from 0900 – 1600 in the North Hall of the Von Braun Center. The experience of our veteran employees is critical to doing our best work. We maintain a Veteran’s Information Program at our offices, which allows veterans networking opportunities, involves them in community outreach, and offers three full days of leave per year just for VA appointments. Many veterans will feel at home discussing our work areas related to design and engineering, systems analysis and integration, software and hardware development, rapid prototyping, program support, and technology maturation, and especially its outcome: field readiness. They may even see a future with us.

Attendance to these events is free for Veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses: tell a friend.
