One Huntsville company argues people are more likely to learn when they are actively engaged with its product or service, which is why it is turning to virtual reality to win over customers.
INTUITIVE Research and Technology is displaying its HTC Vive at the Space and Missile Defense Symposium at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville to supplement what companies normally hand out at these conventions.
“There’s only so much you can convey on a sheet of paper,” explains INTUITIVE virtual reality project lead Michael Yohe, “I honestly believe the retention is much higher.”
Yohe is using the HTC Vive to simulate the company’s Innovation Lab. The virtual room showcases several of the company’s current ventures including unmanned aerial vehicles, missile defense and battlefield mission planning. The new-to-market VR advancements are especially appealing for company leaders, as it allows them to simulate an entire 15×15 foot room.
“People can duck. They can crouch. They can roll. They can turn a full 360 degrees. That’s why we believe that the HTC Vive is a pretty effective piece of technology,” says Yohe.
The HTC Vive is available to consumers. HTC currently sells the product for $799, and the Taiwanese consumer electronics company has reported strong sales despite revealing operating losses in its second quarter earnings report.
