HUNTSVILLE, AL – June 2015 – Intuitive Research and Technology Corporation (INTUITIVE) recently hosted David Long, President of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE). Mr. Long, along with several other Vitech Corporation associates, toured INTUTIVE’s state-the-art Innovation Lab on June 17th. Following their visit at headquarters, INTUTIVE hosted a reception where Long and his associates had the opportunity to meet with local INCOSE chapter leaders. INTUITVE was honored to welcome Mr. Long to their facility and to the Huntsville/Madison County community.
During his visit at INTUITIVE, Long spoke about the future of systems engineering and how INCOSE is working towards meeting those goals. Long stated, “We must work together to transform the profession; far more people do systems engineering than realize it. We want people to realize that INCOSE is not just an organization for aerospace systems engineers. Our goal is to bring together systems engineers from all domains – healthcare, transportation, utilities, and finance. By joining together, we can learn from one another’s experiences in hopes to better understand the role systems engineering plays around the world today and in the future.”
On the following day, June 18, Long was the guest speaker at an INCOSE luncheon held on the UAH campus. He presented his presentation titled “Building for Tomorrow: Towards 21st Century Systems Engineering.” In his speech he posed the question, “If we as systems engineers are to move beyond 20th century systems engineering, what must we address? How must we adapt, evolve, and transform to build for tomorrow?”
Long has been serving INCOSE for almost 20 years and in 2014 was elected President of the organization. Outside of INCOSE, Long is founder and president of Vitech Corporation, where he developed CORE®, a leading systems engineering software environment used around the world. His experiences and efforts led him to co-author the book A Primer for Model-Based Systems Engineering to help spread the fundamental concepts of this key approach to modern challenges. While serving as INCOSE President, Long continues to lead the Vitech team as they deliver innovative, industry-leading solutions to help organizations develop and deploy next-generation systems.
