HUNTSVILLE, AL – January 2021 – Intuitive Research and Technology Corporation’s (INTUITIVE®) President, Mrs. Vergenia Shelton, was recently honored as a woman shaping Alabama in an announcement made Sunday, January 24. Shelton is one of 25 women to be selected for the 2020 Class of Women Who Shape the State conducted by This is Alabama®. The 2020 honorees represent a broad spectrum – CEOs, artists, scientists, volunteers and more – but they have one thing in common: a fierce desire to give back to their communities. This is the sixth class to be recognized for the annual award. A panel of judges reviewed nominations and made their selections searching for bold women that make Alabama a better place to work and live.
Shelton is being recognized as an advocate for STEM education and celebrated for her dedication to developing the next generation. From encouraging STEM students across the state, to helping bring the INTUITIVE Planetarium at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center to fruition, Shelton is intentional about her impact both inside and outside the workplace.
She believes women play a critical role in the strengthening their organizations and their communities. “Women have a very unique and valuable perspective that is essential to the success of any business,” she said. “Organizations need people of diverse backgrounds to encourage free-thinking and to create an atmosphere of creativity and innovation.
